I'm thinking about getting rated on the 777 (currently a 752 captain and was a 763 captain at one time). My question is about the written and probably the check ride as well. Is there anything substantially different when compared to the other programs I've been involved with? Thanks. smile

The questions will be more geared towards the T7. biggrin

But seriously...as you progress through the stages at DVD, the exams and check rides will be more challenging and more in-depth. Although I can't give you specifics on the 777 check ride, you'll probably be responsible for knowing how to navigate using SIDS & STARS. T7 pilots should also know about NATS since a majority of flights will be over the pond. Those are basically the differences that I can think of off hand.

The T7 test which I took yesterday was as hard as any of the other ones. Some questions.. I have never seen the answers in ANY of the materials. There are 2 questions which keep repeating that I KEEP getting wrong.. sometime i am going to ask someone about that.

The T7 checkride was "easier" than the 767 checkride. Probably because what was required i will probably NEVER do in the sim world. THe T7 CR was hands down FUN.. i failed the first time.. but thats because I missed a critical detail.. the L versus the R... its a big difference.. and.. apparently enough to fail you.. "with style" doesnt cut it.. So anyhow if you prepare for 2 days for the CR for the 777 dont miss that critical detail of what is L and what is R. Its big.. the number is important.. but.. the letter after it is too.. Aggrey.. yes.. I know you had some fun with me over that one.

So.. is the 777 program hard.. nope.. not at all the CR is hands down FUN.. the captains exam and the FO exam was good too.. The Captains exam I got a 86% my highest score of all. probably because each test builds on the other. So.. by all means.. Take the FO exam for the T7 and.. do the check ride.. and tell me about how fun it is.

See you in the sky. Plus you get to add HEAVY to your call sign all over vatsim.. and.. they will ignore it smile

but it is fun to say.. and the T7 is a BEAST of a plane.

so when there is an event you can show em how its done in the big bird.

do it.. join the T7 program.

I've always had a strong passion for the 777. In fact, not even now I can't decide between the 757 and 777.
(Still waiting on that POSKY T7 for FSX)

For me, the FO exam was something new. Remember to study the Flight Encyclopedia and the 777 Manual. Even after passing the exam, it's best to ask Adam or Ken to get the right answers to the questions you answered wrong. This way, you learn something new every day.

The Check Ride was a lot of fun. I was pleased to see that the 777 likes how I fly. Better said, I liked how the 777 flies. Passed the CR on my first try. Sure was a flight to remember.

Remember; practice, practice, practice; This way you will pass the CR. And practice with the Fleet 777. Its use is mandatory for the CR.

Anyway, give it a try. You can always ask me or Adam or Ken for questions. That's why we are here.

This is interesting - that you have to fly the Fleet T7 for the check ride. Since I prefer FS9 I've always, and only, flown the PSS 777 and haven't even downloaded the fleet aircraft. This may help me to decide to hold off since I hate to learn the nuances of the fleet 777, only to never use it again when I go back to the PSS. Of course, I may still move forward. I'm not sure. wink

The same is for the 757 Check Ride. We feel that pilots should use the same type of aircraft (in your case, Fleet 777) because using a payware-type aircraft creates an advantage to some pilots while the pilots that fly the freeware don't have it.

But this shouldn't be a problem. Download this: http://fsroute.com/route.asp?DEP=kiad&ARR=kjfk&R=PALEO+AGARD+SPEAK+CANNY+DONIL+LEEAH+ACY+CYN+COL+CRI+&REM=&FP=FS&Submit.x=75&Submit.y=15 and save it to your C:\Documents and Settings\(your pc name)\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files.

When flying the 777 CR, go to the Flight Simulator 'Create a Flight' window and then select on 'Create Route'. Then load the saved file.

That's it. The route will now appear in your GPS when flying the 777 CR.

I must agree with the above statements,,,the T7 is very fun and straight forward. Shoundlnt be to hard for you.

It's amazing what you learn every day. Since I was hired in on the 752 and have always used the PSS model, I wasn't aware of that - even through my becoming a captain. And, I used the LDS 767 for my check ride and flights that led up to captaincy in that program (please don't take that away from me now smile

) The same thing for the check ride on the 738 which was the PMDG model. Anyway, the bottom line is I'm about to download the fleet T7 and go from there. Thanks again.
