I know we recently just added CV-440, how about the cv-580? Maybe we could have some historic flights with the entire CV program from the 240 through the 580? Northwest, which bought Republic in 1986 which was formerly North Central, which my dad worked for 42 years, ditched all the 580's in 1986 unfortunately. North Central had an extensive fleet of 580's from the 50's through the 80's. I used to fly on those all the time in Minnesota on the hops from MSP-MKT-FMT-OTG-SUX-FSD. But there is the Northwest connection so we could maybe do a historic program with the CV program. Just a thought. Maybe this has already been brought up. But I really miss flying the cv580 and I was going through my old aircraft last night and saw all the north central, republic and aspen airways 580's I had. Does anybody have any interest?

Our historic programs have been "Delta historic" up to this point - send me the information in a helpdesk issue and we'll look into it.

My most memorable 580 flt was North Central Flt 504: MSN-MKE-ORD, on 12-2-1978.Next day after my 1st marriage..Got into MKE,it was snowing..Couldnt depart for ORD till we got clearance..The passenger behind us found out we were newlyweds, bought us 2 small bottles of Champagne...

Nice...

The CV-580,were basically CV440 "Metropolitan"s,with the Allison 501-D engine & nacelles mouted on the wings..16' Hamilton-Standard propeller, and the turbine operated at a constant 15,000 rpm...

Same engine as on the Lockheed Electra L-188....I used to stand behind them on the ramp.when they started up..the scent & heat from those Allison's was unforgettable

David,

I have an auto install model of a Republic and North Central CV-580 with wing views and a rough VC that I got from some guys at HJG a few years ago after I posted about the CV580 on the HJG website. I will ask the guys who sent it to me if they would mind if I passed it on. Its pretty cool. I'll reply back to the post and we can go from there.

The CV-580 was the first plane I ever flew on.. Way back in 1980 when I flew from Montrose CO to Denver to get my physical to join the Army.. lol. I used to have a pretty nice one too, for FS9 but I have long since changed computers and installed FSX and have lost all the cool stuff I had for FS9.

My dad worked for North Central/Republic/Northwest for 42 years. Flew them very often in the 70's and 80's. I also got two schedules from July of 1979 for North Central and Southern Airways which North Central acquired in 1979 when NC was flying 580's as well as all original tail #'s when they were converted to 580s and when NC purchased them. I would like to see some historic 580's on the schedule. My dad kept many original North Central schedules even from the 60's when they flew DC-3 and CV-340/440
