While greasing a landing is a great accomplishment may I also offer the challenge of flying the standard VFR/IFR approach into KRST and meeting the altitude and speed requirements. wink

Lol, yesterday I landed in KRDU with "Touchdown speed: 39ft/minute" - no minus..lol..on ACARS they were all asking if I landed uphill.. biggrin

Must be an ACARS glitch..because in the PIREP it does say "-39".

I've been trying to land a "greaser" for the past month..I was on a non-ACARS flight into St. George,Utah(EMB-120)...and i did -1 ft/minute...

It is an error in acars. I have had a few that said 0ftpersec and fspassengers will say -100ftpersec.

I do not want to destroy your hopes or anything like that... but I've heard that when you get a -0 fpm landing, it is not because you did a great landing, it's because Acars didn't record that specific part of the flight (Actually it recorded, but it won' tell you.. if you want to know you're real langding, go to the PIREP, in the map select the "flight data" option, and look for purple circle..and if you want it more specific, then open the excel doc.. it will give you the more specific data)

If you see the purple circle, it shows that you landed with a -4 fpm... Great job biggrin

Hahaha, Don, that reminds me of something a friend of mine that flies for the regionals told me once - he had a really "firm" landing once, so he got on the PA and said this - "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your first officer. I'm sure you noticed we landed in Houston. I was descending to the runway when all of a sudden the runway got in the way of my descent! Welcome to Houston!" Lol, I laughed my guts out...I'm totally going to say that one day...

I have to agree with Don. I've never sat through a landing that was a greaser. All pilots I've spoken to tell me that you need to fly the bird into the blocks. On planes with automatic spoilers, they won't deploy unless the landing struts really compress. Personally, I want traction on those mains when they touch, greasing it in leaves too much that can possibly go wrong.
