After living with the original nVida drivers for my Ti 4200 AGP8X, I got my courage up to upgrade from 40.72 to 56.72. REports in the Cooler suggested that the latest drivers were fantastic. Why it takes courage you may ask, well it seems everytime I make a change things go haywire requiring days to resolve. I am certain that others experience this too. Over time I default to the mode of if it isn't broke don't fix it.

The first online event with the new drivers was the UVA challenge CVG -> DEN last Sat. Thinking all was in order but nope my system stuttered and spat after pushback for rwy 27 departure. Nutz I said to self performance is due to more than 20 company a/c trying to depart I'll stick with it. I managed to complete the flight with stuttering the entire flight.

Troubleshooting display adapter settings and FS Display did not resolve the problem. Uninstall and reinstall the video drivers didn't solve it. Pouring over the forums and nVidia support gave no clues.

Meanwhile in the back of my mind I heard this voice saying it must be something simple that you overlooked.

Last night online I was trying the latest system configuration and add-on when I private messaged a company pilot who also experienced display problems last Sat. We went through a check list and I finally asked what version of DirectX he was running. Bingo I was running 8.1 and needed 9.0B.

Upgraded to 9.0B and there you go problem no more stuttering and beautiful display colors. WOW.

Now I need to findi the Virtual Cockpit that disappieared on the rwy at KPIT. Probably another little detail.

Why oh why isn't it made clear that new driver series need support from other system components is beyond me??

LOL...uh huh......but I have that issue with when I right click on my deck top or in an explorer window again...the New; folder,text doc...e.t.c menu suddenly went away from my right click function again...so noww..the dilemma begins...how do i create a new folder when I dont have that option any more..and Ive narrowed it down to the Nvidia drivers....it dont help to uninstall them,if i gotta format again,me and Nvidia are gonna have words.
