As of 2;55pm EST, I have completed my first flight as a pilot with DVA. The flight was in a CRJ-900 from PHF to ATL. Wow, it took me 3 tries, but I finally have my first flight leg!

Nice job... but I can't emphasize the importance of keeping your speed up! The hard landing rate means that you basically dropped like a brick out of the sky. wink

Listen to Quinlan - you need more speed across the threshold. When you have full flaps and a normal approach, you should keep power on (50-60% - depends, but you get my point) all the way across the threshold. You don't pull power off until you are within 50 feet of the ground. Don't flair like it's a small plane - fly it onto the runway. You can finesse it later.

Before I ever joined a VA I went thru the builtin flight instruction that FSX (FS9 has it too btw)
provides. Those and the missions are both fun, and a good way to get some notion of the
basics of flying.

In the RW no pilot ever flies a CRJ til they've logged scads of hours in a small prop, and
then a twin so I think its a realistic path to take for yourself. Besides, its FUN smile
