I'm sure by now all of you know that you can submit a Flight Video in order to get promoted to a higher aircraft stage. What you may not be familiar with in our promotion scheme is that you can do a "check flight" as well.

Our Musketeers flight every Sunday night is a great opportunity to do so. If you're looking to do a check ride, we usually have a decent group of staff out. David Schaum is by every week, and I usually come by every second or third week. Coming out on Sunday night is both easier and more difficult than a flight video. One one hand, you're not going to get the CATIII ILS conditions that Robert likes to assign for the 777 flight videos. smile

The flip side is that you need to demonstrate proficiency during all stages of flight, including ATC interaction. You are also not guaranteed of good weather, as David and Awais have this charming tendency to fly into airports that are currently having a hurricane pass over, like CYHZ. However, if you've done VATSIM at least once before, come on out. Bottom line, if you can handle the aircraft and don't make a bigger ass out of yourself then I do, you pass. Considering that I have a "six-inch" bottle to throttle rule, that isn't too difficult. smile

See you Sunday - David has a surprise in store, and I cannot guarntee that the databases haven't already exposed things somewhere!

I'd like to reinforce this - 737 drivers, if you are more comfortable with this method, please do not hesitate to ask me! I am an avid VATSIM member (C1, /V/M and ZTL Web Geek) and I will be more than happy to check you out online. In fact, Lloyd Arms and I are getting together sometime soon to get him into the 737 Program.

I'd like to take advantage of the 'check ride'. I've been practicing the CATII approaches into Denver (as sadist Robert has requested - sorry lol) with the triple 7, but I'd rather the challenge of screwing up in front of several of DVA's finest pilots.

Especially this week in a brand new 777 - wow!! Gotta love that new plane smell!!

My question is - how do I coordinate this flight? Do I need to request that Robert be present?

My understanding is that Robert is currently seeking public office, for a position on his local town council, which means that tonight will determine if he spends the next few years suckling on the public teat (although I would guess that most of these local council jobs pay for little more than your gas to the meetings).

He does have a standing invitation, so if we're lucky he'll come out on Sunday, but if he doesn't my suggestion would be to give things a spin with the 777, with the caveat that for aircrew and aircraft certification requirements, you will need to perform a CATII landing irrespective of the current weather conditions.
