Fellow DVA pilots,

I come here confused, as I was under the impression that any flights completed successfully with ACARS tracking would count towards advancement to Captain ranking, so long as they're completed with properly rated equipment. I have completed four such flights, conforming to the promotional manual requirements, yet only two have been reflected as going towards my advancement to captain. Also, when I review my flight log, the two which ostensibly have been given credit towards captain rank are marked with a green pine tree like symbol (perhaps denoting advancement towards rank). Could someone in a position of management with DVA please review my record and give me the credit towards captain rank which I believe is forthcoming? I apologize in advance if this issue has been succinctly covered somewhere in our many airline SOP's, however I was unable to find it in those with most bearing on the issue. Thanks for your time and fly safe.

Go Delta,

Jeff Putz

Good evening Jeffrey!

If you look at the Reviewer Comments in each of your PIREPs (those which aren't counting towards promotion), you should be able to see this:

"Reviewer Comments: Not eligible for promotion: Minimum flight length for promotion to Captain in CRJ-200 is 150 miles".

Hope this helps...

Asst. Chief Pilot Gomez,

You are quite right sir, I had overlooked that detail. I was assuming there was a distance threshold, but couldn't find one in the promotion manual. Thank you very much for your prompt and helpful reply. Fly safe.

Here to help, my friend!

I recommend that you look at our NOTAMs page for more information on similiar topics:
http://www.deltava.org/notams.do

Especially NOTAM #36, which explains the new basis for flights that count for promotion to the Captain Rank.

Best wishes for Year 2011!
