Hello DVA!

i just looked at Delta´s fleet page on wikipedia, and there stands that the 787-8 will be delivered in 2013, i think the business is now running very well again, because they also ordered 5 used 757-200 and also take 4 back from storage, did anyone of you have more infos about the newest Delta 787-8 delivery date?

also CH-Aviation has listed 2 Planes of Boeing´s 787-8 Testfleet as "for Delta Air Lines"

http://blog.seattlepi.com/aerospace/archives/163345.asp Even though it would be great, we are talking about the 787 here.... All we can do is hope! And wait for Qualitywings 787 to be released.

you are working for Delta / Boeing?

i think when the business is running well they may take the 787s, probably they will include the 787 into there Narrowbody order probably going to Boeing, so probably Boeing makes a spezial offer when they buy 100-200 new Aircrafs...

That's incorrect. Delta has officially pushed back their 787 deliveries till 2020.

Im sure once the 787 has been approved for commercial flight and Boeing actually starts delivering these birds the delivery schedule for Delta will be adjusted accordingly. I see the 787 being a very big part of Delta's fleet in the future. I also have heard that Delta has been impressed with the performance of the Airbus fleet it acquired from Northwest so don't rule out the possibility that Delta wont be ordering only Boeing products in the future.

Yep. I also feel that the date was a place holder. But, let's not forget that NW did not fully commit to, and started taking delivery of the A330s until 2003 but they had placed the order some 10 years earlier. I have a funny feeling that we may very well see the same thing with the 787s. DL is putting A LOT of money into the 763ERs. New crew rests, new galleys, nose-to-tail AVOD, and full flat-beds in J. The estimated completion time for the 76Es is 2013 so I really don't see them doing all of this then scrapping the fleet earlier than planned. I expect a DC-10 or 742 type scenario where they will fly for at least another 5-7 years before they start taking the 787s to begin replacing the oldest frames.

The 787 announced last week that it will delay delivery AGAIN. The problem is in a word: OUTSOURCEING
When the 777 was built, Boeing outsourced everything but the design which meant they had SOME control.
On the 787 Boeing outsourced everything INCLUDING the design which means they have NO control.
Boeing wanted a total outsourceing of this airplane because they wanted to save some $$.

Boeing management already admitted to outsourcing too much on the 787. That's a good first step!

I'm hearing otherwise David. The latest update I got was that they fully expect to start making deliveries in Q2 or Q3 of this year.
