Proper protocol for flying other airlines flights - vatsim and flight reports

I was just wanting clarification on the following. My id is dva5415 . Can I for example book a flight on Alaska Airways ( ex. LAX-VAN ) , it seems to be a legitimate leg. Do I log it as a delta flight in acars and do I use the AS flight number. What id do I use on Vatsim or should I just fly with my DVA id.

I could not find this specific reference and I know you guys will know the answer to this basic question.

Thank you Peter

Hi Peter, sure it's a good leg and you should file as the Alaska flight in ACARS, just like it's listed in the timetable. As for VATSIM, it's really up to you but personally I prefer flying the banner of the actual flight. So I would use ASA prefix and ALASKA callsign. wink

ASA703 is the first one listed when looked up the route. I would use that one or one of the other 3 if I was flying the route online.
