Hello everybody !

As most of you know there have been several changes in the leadership of the 737 program as of late. I stepped aside as the CP not to long ago and Scott Simmons stepped up to take the helm. There were also two new ACP additions to the staff as well.

I feel that I owe the the 737 program as well as the other members an explanation. Sadly, there is no great bit of coorporate gossip, I did not have a blow out with Operations, Mr. Esenhour did not fire nor kill me, I am alive!

The reason is simple.......

After a five month struggle trying to balance my family life, which includes my first grandchild, a painting business, full time work at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, penning a novel, and a more than understanding wife. I came to the conclusion that I had to make some very hard descions. Something had to change and change sooner rather than later. The realization that I need to rearrange things was made easy for me after I recieved and e-mail from Scott Simmons asking where I had been.

I came to the realization that I was not giving 100% to DeltaVA and that Scott had been carrying me for over four months. I asked myself why should I carry the title of CP when I was not able to put in the work that the position and program needed. That it was not fair or just to hold the title if I was unable to do my duty. That there were hundreds of you fine people that would love to, that had the time to, and rightly so deservied the opportunity to do more to contribute to the daily operations of the airline. That if I got out of the way, two positions would open up. One was ACP Katlin's, who I will always admire, and will ALWAYS have a great amount of respect for. I also knew that ACP Simmons was the natural replacment for me, and that would open up another ACP position.

The die was cast, I knew what would remain after the sand was removed and I knew what I needed to do.

I am confident in the new leadership team in the program that I am still so proud to be a part of.

Job well done Don. I have to say and nothing against you or the other staff of the 737 program. Since the change it has been staggering how quickly emails are answered and esspecially flight logs approved. I for one have been really impressed with the quick work the front office staff is doing here at the 737 hanger. Job well done to you and them! rawk

I think most people within the airline would appreciate that it is free time that people give up to make this hobby happen, I dont feel the need for explanations as everyone has lives away from DVA

I hope you hang around here for a few more years. I am still flying cargo at night for Westwind. I remember spending quite a bit of time around you about 5 yrs ago when you were at Westwind creating charters. Hope you plan to keep flying here.
