I have a MSI X58 Pro-E Motherboard with a i7-Intel Core Processor. I want to upgrade my video card, but would like to know what a good one would be and that is compatible for my computer. Any help is greatly appreciated!

A GTX 1080 sounds a bit overkill to me but it all depends on what you intend on doing with the system

Unless he's playing extreme framerate games like Crysis 3 at 4K resolution, the GTX 1080 is complete overkill. For flight sim and moderate gaming, I'd go for a GTX 970...

think of it,

The GTX 980 TI is what most people want, thats 800$ the TITAN X is overkill thats over 1000$ the gtx 1080 that is MORE powerful than the TITANx is 600$

I'd go for the 970 then. If you really want to add more screens you can go for the 980ti, but it's totally unnecessary. You will get great performance regardless.

For reference, I use Intel 4000 integrated graphics on my i7 3770. I get about 30-40 frames per second at almost max settings using the Aerosoft Airbuses. Even a mid tier card wouldn't do much extra for me (maybe max settings at 60 fps).

Last time I checked FSX was always more CPU intensive than GPU intensive so really and truly most good GPUs will give you good performance in FSX

Correct. For better FSX performance, I would rather get an i7 4790K and overclock it to 4.2 GHz as opposed to buying a GTX 1080. About half the price too...

Prepar3d is a different story though. It's more GPU intensive so I would at least get a GTX 970 for that.

Yisrael;
Great Setup. Let me ask what SIM are you using it? Because P3D use lots of your GPU.

Right now I'm using FSX, but when I get that new system, I want to get P3D. Maybe I'll get the GTX 1070 by then. It's only about $80 more than the 970 with a 1/3 increase in performance.
