With the new Kaby lake processors coming out soon and the i7-7700k boosting to 4.5ghz out of the box, who's thinking about upgrading and seeing how far they can overclock it. I'd say running fsx and prepared may get a whole lot better

I personally don't think I will be upgrading, especially since that would require me to buy a whole new motherboard. I currently run a water cooled 860k overclocked to 4.3 GHz.

My Christmas gift was an upgrade to I7 - 6700K - ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming MB and 16 GB GSkill DDR4 -3200 RAM. The ASUS Turbo mode took it to 4.5 right away and I am currently running 4.7 @ 1.35 with Air cooling only and very good temps (mid 60's).

I have heard (no proof) that KABY LAKE will not be a major advancement over Sky Lake chips. So for now I am very happy with Sky Lake . My performance in P3D meets all my expectations. smile

Kaby Lake is only a minor improvement over Skylake. Even with max settings and add-ons, an i7-6XXX Skylake can handle it no problem.

I'm personally perfectly happy with my Haswell i7 4770k. I would purchase more RAM, a dedicated flight sim SSD, or an updated GPU before purchasing a new processor.

Zen intrigues me. I hope its a good processor for the exact reason of bringing down intels prices, but also maybe pushing intel to be more innovative again and bring us a new game changing chip not just incremental improvements

Best thing I've heard about Kaby Lake is the K models will easily OC to 5 ghz if not further, but I've also seen reviews where it runs really hot.
