I have been using FSX off and on for several years. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times in the with no problem. I recently reinstalled it and now when I try to activate it with the product key as I have in the past, I get a message " License authorization unsuccessful, the problem may be due to a temporary network interruption.........". I have retried the activation several times over several days with no success. This has never happened before. I have looked around on-line for this issue and it appears that a lot of other people are having the same problem but no one seems to have a fix for it. I use FS2004 most of the time as it is much more stable (doesn't crash) however a number of newer airports do not exist in FS2004. I guess it might be time to try FSX Steam! Any suggestions for this issue?

Did the product key expire? It happened to me once and I contacted Microsoft for a new one.

The party is over. It was for some time. Microsoft no longer supports fsx that is why their activation server is offline. If you still want it, then steam is the only option. I just went to Xplane instead and wont look back

Problem solved. After MUCH searching, go into the FSX folder and to right click on FSX.exe choose properties and uncheck the Run in Compatibility Mode box. Then the activation went through with no problem. I did try the Xplane 11 demo, a ridiculous amount of setup required and then the program crashed! I am still looking at FSX Steam, I am seeing good and bad reviews on it. Thanks for your replies.
