Can someone explain please?

I received this notification in my PIREP on a flight from ATL-SLC, SYSTEM: Entered restricted airspace R-6412A.

I flew the days RW route.

Cheers.

Mark.

Look on a chart - you will see why the alert got triggered (incorrectly). wink

I've had another one flying the 'real' route, SLC-HNL and assumed it was incorrect as why would they fly that route if that was the case?

I actually looked it up online.

Cheers.

It's incorrectly, but not entirely. Given the timing and comparing to the chart, it looks like you overflow the restricted airspace, but did not enter it. There was a bug in the airspace calculations that got fixed earlier today, but after your flight was submitted.

Cheers!

I see so there's an altitude level restriction but not a total restriction then?

I had to look up the RW NOTAM for R-5206 that I entered this morning. There are altitude restrictions and i think if you fly above those restrictions you are good.

Yes... all of these airspaces have a minimum and maximum altitude (although the minimum may be zero). When I'm checking I do the altitude check first since most flights are above the max altitudes and it's much quicker than doing the lat/long check.

Cheers!

Where can I get that info to check please, Luke. I only use SID/STAR charts on FA as they're correctly up to date for US flights.

Thanks.

Mark.

Matthew, thanks I'm seeing that now lol. I did sort of think it was wrong as DAL are hardly likely to be filing plans that send them through restricted airspace.

I'd start with SkyVector; that's what I use to cross-check.

Oh, I think I do, once you've entered your plan is it just a case of clicking on World Hi to see if there are any restrictions along the way?

Cheers.
