With a schedule update of codeshares, some important airports for the Moose club dropped off the schedule. We have added Westjet Historical. Be sure to type in .update in ACARS chat box while connected.

Well, trying to keep our accomplishment active. We won't have many achieving the Moose club if the airports no longer exist in our schedule database. rolleyes

Hi Andrew, I'm just curious as to why you placed those routes under the "Historical" banner? Most if not all of them are current WestJet routes, and the same applies to the Virgin Atlantic Historical, Kenya Air Historical and most of the Aeroflot Historical routes. I'm sure you have your reasons but it's just something I've always wondered about.

Good question Kyle. The main airline databases like DL, AF, KLM, SU, etc. are all automatically linked to an external downloaded database. They update at 2AM ET every day, even though we're running a loop on the same past day while we sort out obtaining a new database provider. What this means is if I make a change manually to the DL database and don't flag it to stay permanently, it will disappear at 2AM the next day. If I do flag it to stay permanently and it conflicts with another flight number, it will upset the system and the database won't update and I'll get an email and have to track down the culprit to remove the conflict.

So, creating historical databases is creating an alternative database that does not get updated from a separate location. it gives me more control over adding missing flights without fear of having to deal with the repercussions above as described. Technically, they're not "historical" in many instances but they are real airline or codeshare flights that occurred in the past (with a couple minor accomplishment-related exceptions).

Hopefully this explains a bit clearer.

BTW, please remove the alcohol related quote in your sig. We're G-rated here. Thanks!
