just did a major reset of my laptop and now i am unable to get fsx to load past the initial setup. it tells me it is generating scenery inexes and thats as far as she goes......any ideas

You can try to rename the fsx scenery.cfg to let a new default one be built. Warning, FSX will not recognize any add-on scenery once you do this. Keep the old renamed scenery.cfg file just encases that doesn't work. Just my first thought.
