Are there certain guidlines for the checkrides, and do I have do fly a huge long flight? I want to upgrade to a L-1011, so I would like to know.

I would recommend emailing the L-1011 chief pilot Sander Jordans. His email can be found using the "Our Staff" link from the DVA home page. He will provide you all the necessary details he will be looking for in the check ride.

Each program's checkride is different and may emphasize different things--for the 777s, I imagine Trevor's deals with handling the avionics and maybe some Category III autoland work. Mine emphasizes short-field operations (takeoff, landing, and an ILS approach with a procedure turn). Contact the chief pilot for the program you're interested in--Sander, in this case--and he'll give you the checkride info.

The 777 checkride does not have Autoland incorperated in it. All hand flown in CATIII standards ;-)
