I would just say that I would differ on this point.

First, there's my YouTube account which was set up so long ago where you didn't need a phone number or G-Mail account.
When Google acquired YouTube, I was forced into setting up a G-Mail account for that YouTube Channel.
Subsequently, my G-Mail and YouTube accounts was hacked.

When I got a new "Smartphone" and Google acquired those rights as well, I had to set it up with a G-Mail account. Why? I-Phone here I come for this very reason.
That account was subsequently also hacked and access to my phone and phone account was compromised.
So, if I use either of these two G-Mail accounts to set up here, I get a bad feeling about what will happen.
I also believe, you can only set up so many accounts under one phone number.

And why didn't a Google spokesperson show up at the Senate Subcommittee Hearings when Facebook, Twitter and the others were on the hotseat about lack of controls?

I've had my Yahoo mail as long as I can remember and have never had a problem.
I hope that maybe you guys can straighten it out with Yahoo because my past experience with Google hasn't been good.

If the Yahoo thing can't be resolved I'll just have to figure a work-around, that's what pilots in distress do, right?

Eric,

I can understand your frustration with the whole Yahoo email thing. I know we are working on it with yahoo and aol. The only problem is it will take some time as it is a long and slow process to prove to yahoo and aol that we aren’t spamming our pilots with email. For some odd reason we got added on a spam list (I can’t remember the exact name for it) but we are on there. I do know gmail is dependable.

As for the google spokesperson, I’m unsure why or if they are involved. I do know though YouTube and Facebook are together. I literally had this discussion with a coworker the other evening.

Anyways we are working on it. We are just asking our pilots to use gmail in case a flight report gets held or for our flight academy. We have to have a communication which is reliable for staff to communicate to our pilots.

Please let us know if you have any further questions on the matter.

There are other options. Yandex, mail.com, zoho mail. They are all free with different advantages. i haven't tested them yet to see if they block our stuff.

Sorry, didn't mean to get cranky but, Geez, has Google been a problem for me!

Thanks for suggesting alternatives and trying to fix things.
I'm sure you'll find some resolution in time and I'll just hang back in the interim.

Unfortunately all our efforts are at the "wait on yahoo and aol" point. Yes, its extremely frustrating to send out a news entry and get 300 kicked backed emails.

Some are having issues with Gmail. I created a mail.com account and got emails ok.
