I'm just curious what the criteria is for including a historical carrier in with DVA, as well as how routes are selected for those that are in? Modern codeshares are obvious, is the rest just old mergers and predecessors? What I'm really getting at is wondering if it would be possible to include Piedmont Airlines. I have access to one of the last timetables and would be willing to put some of it into a workable format if it's something that could be included and of interest to others.

Hi Mike. Ahhh Piedmont. A great former airline that was absorbed by US Airways and American. As for codeshares and historical codeshares or airlines, I try to follow the Delta family tree here:

http://www.deltamuseum.org/docs/site/family-tree/delta-family-tree-final.pdf?sfvrsn=4

The only exception is Pan Am. Delta took over a lot of Pan Am flights and routes when it was disbanded and Delta took the PA terminal at JFK. Other than that, we try to follow all the family tree as closely as possible.

However, we have taken some liberties to add codeshares that are not technically codeshare flights. We run our FA out of the SFB airport where Delta doesn't fly. So, for connected logbook users, we added some non-official Delta flights for the FA courses.

I'd love to add some new CLT flights since Piedmont was a major carrier from there (my home airport). Let me stew on it for a while.

If there is a classic Piedmont flight you'd like to fly, we can always give you a charter so you can request it via the Help Desk.

Appreciate it being considered. Like I said, if there's an Excel/CSV format the website uses that I could populate with some Piedmont flights I'm willing to pitch in. Truth be told I've been attempting to set up a Piedmont VA as its own thing, but so far putting something creditable together with Wordpress and phpVMS has been above my talent level.
