Michael,

It is accepted at DVA. I’ve seen a fair share of pilots use time acceleration especially on long haul flights.

I will let you know though the use of time acceleration can hinder a flight leg counting as promotion for a program though.

Have fun!

I believe ACARS will only let you go to 4x time acceleration. 2x time acceleration is permitted on VATSIm (or used to be permitted) occasionally by controllers.

It's fine for long flights. No point in simulating napping, it's more fun simulating flying. smile

Late on the reply; I think many virtual airlines allow time acceleration but reaching your cruising altitude first is better and going back to normal speed just prior to final destination descent. (???)

I am thinking about switching to the 777 program. I understand time acceleration cannot be used for checkrides but the Pilot Manual says flights where time acceleration are used will not be counted towards promotion. I like to fly realistic routes with the aircraft I am flying. I would like clarification on whats allowed or not allowed as far as time acceleration. Flying 8-12 hour flights can be difficult with lack of time. Thanks

Quincy,
You can fly time acceleration up to 4x. he problem is that if you want to move over to the left seat you need to fly 10 flights without time acceleration at a distance over 172 nautical miles to be counted towards promotion. With wanting to fly realistic routes, there aren't many short haul 777 flights in the system. But, while it is not in the system, I have seen 777 be used on short routes with alot of passenger traffic, such at ATL-MCO and ATL-JFK. So long as the airports can handle a 777, your good to go. If your not worried about getting the Captain rating, you could use time acceleration (up to 4x) to your hearts content and not worry about it.

Thanks for the clarification. All of the years of playing flight sim I have never thought about or entertained the idea of using time acceleration. I have done a lot of long haul flights on the A330 in real time and only recently got the idea of using time acceleration.
