Hey everyone!

Just got approved from my wife to build a new pc, put it all together and had to install windows 10. im attempting to get my simulator up and running. I had difficulties just copying the FS9 folder form my old hard drive to the new one. the biggest head scratcher I am having is every time I change the folder permissions to attempt and uncheck the read only, it never sticks and reverts back to read only. even in admin mode.

ideas?

When you look at the properties of a folder, it will always show a black square in the "Read-only" field. It's never going to read black or a "checkmark" as you see with files. This is normal: folders don't have a read-only attribute so it's just telling you to check the files inside the folder.

Pick some random files inside the folder you have copied. Are those showing a read-only checkbox? If so, you might just need to claim ownership of the parent folder:

* Right-click -> Properties
* Security Tab
* Advanced button
* Click "Change" next to the owner, pick an appropriate user (ie yourself)
* Check that the list of users under "Permission entries" include yourself with "full access". Adjust as needed
* Select "Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object" -- this will apply all your changes to all sub-folders and files as well

See if that yields you any kind of success.
