so after almost setting fire to my apartment using 28 awg bread board jumper wires to push 12v using adjustable power supplies to power home products with interchangable connector ends to the panels to make them somewhat bright, I didnt know that all that resistance created so much heat using thin wire pushing that much voltage found melted connections...

So in my ignorance I ask the home cockbit builders community and suggested an obvious answer .

To use a PC power supply mod it to use as a bench supply and then you have plenty of amps 25 amps on the 5v rail . and have all seperate 3.3 5.0 and 12v power junctions i made.

There is a ton of videos how to mod a power supply i simply used using the 5v circuit a 5w 5 owm resistor to dummy trick the power supply that its plugged into a board to stay on.

And after 4 hours properely soldering and heat shrinking wire runs all under the pedestal and installing my own IBL boeing small bulbs to empty panels Wired in parrellel and they all light up perfectly. @ 5v ! ! !

more to come ! ! I was sent a ton of pedestal panels from LVLD all with IBL connections .

Will post more as progress continues.

Regards

Cool setup, Sean! Yes, your previous setup was probably a good demonstration of resistance through wires. Good physics demo biggrin

Very nice Sean!! I'll be following in your foot steps here shortly, within a about 3-4 weeks!! Really cool idea to use a computer power supply. Originally I was planning on using a production line power supply intended for Ham Radio, but your use of a computer power supply just makes more sense!! Multiple voltages, for multiple devices, LED, standard bulbs, etc... Thanks!! :-)

Thanks pal ! There are a ton of videos on how to make a bench power supply mod. So easy ! I use one of the push switches on my landing gear panel to turn it off and on. and sets up more opportunity for wiring power to the overhead once put up. SO easier ... seriously i was considering getting a deep cycle marine battery.................
