Hello all. My PC is an Alienware R9, 9700k, GTX 2080 Super, 32GB of RAM, Windows 10/64. My monitor is an Asus w/144hz refresh rate. I run ACARS, Active Sky, and Orbx Global when flying. My fps rates are always good and seldom dip below 40 even in hardware challenging conditions from the VC. I would like to hear any tips that have worked for others to help me reduce some of the micro stutters I have. I have played with the settings in P3D quite a bit, and I leave them fairly conservative in the name of smoothness/high fps. I have also tried reducing my monitor to 60hz and using 1/2 vsync via Nvidia control panel and pinning my fps to 30. I've experimented with P3D's vsync and triple buffering as well. I'm not noticing much difference no matter what I do.

The stutters I'm having aren't a game killer, but a little improvement (if possible) would be nice. When compared to DCS world, it just feels like P3D should be running smoother than it is given the quality of graphics involved versus my setup. Thanks.

As an update to anybody reading, I switched my 144hz monitor to 120hz. I also limited fps to 30 and enabled vsync/triple buffering through P3D. I also reduced my level of detail radius from high to medium. I didn't notice a difference graphic wise, but the sim is definitely running smoother.

Hey Ryan:

Glad you figured it out. I too had the same issues. I have the same system you do (comparable) and the frustration I have felt with v4 over the years has almost sent me to X-plane. I decided to take the leap to v5 to see if was any better. For me, it is butter. So much better looking and feeling without the freezing and stutters and etc. I run the PMDG and FSLabs locked at 30 frames.

Glad to hear Chris. I'll probably be upgrading to v5 here before too long.

Ryan
