Has anyone around here had the experience of upgrading their GPU and having MSFS 2020 not load for them?

I just got a 5080 card. 2024 loads and works fine (And is AMAZINGLY better).

2020 can't get past the load screen. Wanted to see if there's any kind of fix before I do an uninstall.

Make sure you delete all of the different caches Nvidia and Flightsim. Also make sure that if you are using DX11 that you do not use the NVIDIA App as this combination makes 2020 not launch. I found that with the 5080 DX12 runs perfectly so I have been running DX12. You can go into your 2020 config file and change the setting prior to launching 2020.

That did the trick. Changed the info in the UserCfg.opt file and it worked!

Did you take out a second mortgage on your house for that? smile Seriously, any tips on where to acquire one, I'm getting by with a 3080 but would sure like to upgrade!

I have a card at MicroCenter and I went in there looking for the Airbus thrustmaster joystick and they just happened to have the 5080 in stock that day! Got lucky. Paying for it on 6 months no interest lol

Now that's something I don't do much these days, actually go into tech stores, maybe I should...hmmm.

So did you get the Airbus joystick? I bought mine via Amazon, the package with stick and throttle, was a good deal and after my old logitech it's a nice upgrade!
