Since it looks like we will be moving to a new flight schedule, it appears that the days of the 727 and MD-11 as front-line aircraft for DVA will be soon coming to a close, and they'll be joining the DC-8, 747 and L-1011 in our 8000 series program. While in some ways this is a bit of a sunset for the programs, I'd like to remind everyone that DVA was a pioneer among virtual airlines, creating the 8000 series to explicitly recognize and honor the great planes that have flown in Delta's fleet before now. They are small programs, but with highly committed pilots.

I would encourage 727 and MD-11 pilots to start thinking about the destinations and route pairs you would like to see recognised by DVA in the 8000 program. I'd be looking for 15-20 different route pairs that are representative of the routes these aircraft flew on a regular basis. Please note that while these would be the only flights officially listed in the DVA flight schedule, we have a standing policy of allowing flights by "similar" aircraft, so the MD-11 would of course be a permitted replacement for the 763 and 772 on long-haul flights, and the 727 for the 737 and MD-88/90.

Cheers!

Luke
