Just curious to know what you have to do to be rated to fly the concorde?

I was told you have to be a Senior Captain or hold a Stage 4 first officer/captain's rating (not sure which).

I though I had read somewhere that the Concorde was the only Stage 5 aircraft? Does bring up another question... since it is retired and technically an Air France flight, is there still a DVA codeshare for it?

To get a concorde rating you have to:
1) Already have a stage four rating (i.e. 777, MD-11, DC-8)
2) Then take a checkride in the concorde which needs to be arranged with Luke, and once you pass that you will have the rating.

Trevor, do you still have to do an checkride for the T7 if you already hold an stage 4 rating? (the DC8 in my case)

Nope, you just need one stage four rating to be eliigable for the concorde rating. So you can be rated in just a DC-8, and not a 777, or MD-11. By the way I meant to add that you do not need to be a senior captain.

Sander,
Yes you must take a seperate test, and seperate check ride for each new stage four rating. I sent you the check ride requirements after you passed the 777 F/O test about two weeks ago. If for some reason you didn't get them, or lost them, just send me an e-mail taf158@aol.com and I will send them to you again.

I was wondering if I could get information on how to take the checkflight for this as well as an appropriate training material for the Concorde? I'm currently a Senior Captain in the MD-88 but have my B777 and MD-11 rating.

You have to be a Stage 4 pilot. I don't think you can just have the rating. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

Oh I hope not, I had been hired as a Boeing 777 pilot originally and decided to focus on MD-88s and B737s originally in my DVA career....(I may have just hurt myself by doing that if I wanna be in the Concorde program lol)

Shoot Luke an email for video requirements. You're qualified to get the rating if you have stage 4 ratings and hold a Senior Captain's rank.

I would just like to correct myself from the previous reply to Sander. A check ride is not required for every stage four rating that you get. You only need to take the ride for one stage four aircraft, and then all you need for the other stage four add. ratings is the F/O test.

Ok these questions are all making sense to me. However I think staff is being placed in a difficult position. I'm a SC in the 757-767's which are stage 3. I've recently been approved to fly the DC-8. While I've passed the 777 first officer test I accept its a completely different and more complex AC that I have only flown on my own time with the exception of the 24 hr group flight. I myself and I'm sure most if not all have complete confidence in our Staff. Let us all give them ample time to answer our questions. In the mean time I am going to continue to fly my CS 707 because it gives me great pleasure to have control of a AC that is not computer controlled. But thats just me. Until staff replies lets just fly. Thats why we are here anyway!

Hey all,

I'll try to clear up a few things on the promotions policy. Right now the manual is undergoing a rewrite, hopefully we'll be able to clear up a few things in the new manual.

First, Trevor is correct. Once a pilot has earned a rating in a stage 4 aircraft by completing the appropriate F/O test and checkride, the pilot will earn additional stage 4 ratings by completing the F/O test only. No other checkrides are necessary.

Second, pilots who have previously earned stage 4 ratings and chosen to enroll in lower stage programs will be allowed to take the Concorde checkride without re-enrolling in a stage 4 aircraft type.

Finally, Senior Captains will be allowed to take the Concorde checkride regardless of stage enrollment.

This will all be spelled out in the updated Promotions Guide when it is released. If anyone has any questions regarding promotions, please don't hesitate to post them or email me directly.

If this is the case and what I need to get a Concorde rating is a group 4 rating, I would like to be rated on the Concorde (as I got the PSS one, and it is great!).
I woud appreciate it if somebody contact me about this - weather I need to submit a check ride or whatever.

Oren,

I recall the 757 being a Stage 3 aircraft. To get to the Concorde you have to be inside the following programs: B777, MD-11 or DC-8... or in a special case, be a 757/67 Senior Captain.

The Conocorde is no Stage 4, is Stage 5, special aircraft. There is no program for it. The checkride is just to get the rating to fly it.

Cheers!

Well... I am on a stage 3 program, but I do have stage 4 ratings (777,747).
Should I transfer to stage 4? I wouldn't want too, because many of my flights are shorter range than typical 777 flights, and moving will simply be a bit unappropriate...

Oren,

If you hold Stage 4 ratings you need not enroll in a Stage 4 program simply to get the Concorde rating. The prerequisites are either a Stage 4 rating or Senior Captain's rank. Contact Luke for the checkride requirements and you'll be on your way.

Hey Luke,

Could you please email me with the requirements for the checkride to get the concorde rating?

I'd like to take the PSS out of her hangar!
