Look at this, this virtual airliner stole our menu: http://www.skyairlines.com.br/ . If you right click over it and click on "view source" you will see the deltava url there and everything. People just can't help it trying to be like us, the best virtual airline out there.:)

I don't really care, cause we made it first and we have over 700 people to tell that. Do what you can do about it, but we are still the best!

Oh but how nice of them... they took the time to save Luke's style sheet and not eat our bandwidth by linking to us. Get 'em Terry.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

To use an Atlanta example, the competetive advantage of the Coca-Cola company is *not* the "secret formula". I'm sure probably every single soft drink manufacturer has a copy of it kicking around. The real genius of Coke is their ability to mass produce, distribute and develop a reputable world-wide brand - not the actual product formula itself.

Same thing with DVA. Our competetive advantage stems not from the actual web site look and feel, but the workflow behind those pages, the calibre of our staff and the content we provide. The other key advantage we have is YOUR interest - which makes the Water Cooler what it is. Someone could probably copy the entire site and still not match what we have.

As the owner of the copyright on our site, I probably should send them a note regarding the copyright that they claim. I have the ability but not the desire to enforce said copyright (especially not in Brazil) but I suppose an acknowledgement would be nice.

Cheers!

Luke

So true Luke, had a look at the site, Quite remarkable how similar the layout is LOL, Still doesn't beat the best VA here in the virtual communtinity at DVA though, But i must Agree, when using a design or modifying one at best, one should atleast give thnx to the author that originally designed it to begin with, I know i get a little perturbed, when I spend numerous hrs and days on these darn AFCADS for FS9 and someone comes along downloads the file adds some little stupid gate here and there and calls it theirs. Now That really Pi$$$, you get the point. I can now see why people are going from freeware to payware.... A letter should be brought forth, in my very humble opinion.

I agree with Luke. They can copy all they want, but they'll never match the levels of knowledge, friendship, and professionalism we all share here.

Luke if you are true to the metaphor about Coca-Cola you will defend to the bitter end brand, logoform, copyright and proprietary rights. You are correct about the cola formula. Cole's legal department would make a legion. The fact that Coca-Cola is a secretformula known to a few select employees and locked in SunTrust Bank vault adds to the mystique and cache for the product. Your secret is the functioning scripts.

I think you are doing the right thing to send them an email pointing out that they used copyrighted material without permission. They can save the trouble of corecting it by simply joining us.

I have sent them a polite note. They are more than welcome to use the design, but they cannot claim ownership or copyright.

As my personal hero, General George S. Patton, once said regarding Feild Marshall Romell, we ought to come face to face, them in their planes, us in ours, get out, shake hands and do battle. That would decide the outcome of the war. lol

Let's declare "War" with them on Vatsim like we had with CVA!! lol [calm down, Spike, too many war movies... hehe]
