I just got the 727 as an additional rating, and passed the test. I am thinking about going into the 727 program, but I don't know how to take the test to do that, and I am practicing the check flight that I have flunked every time. I have not recorded it, but how do I get into the 727 program if I cannot retake the test to stwich programs?

Thomas:

Once you pass the test, you've passed the test. You don't have to retake it. If you passed it just to get an additional rating, it still counts if you want to switch into the 727 program.

As for the checkride, all I can tell you is keep hammering at it. Blame Matt Creed, he came up with a nice evil one didn't he? smile Have you had any luck with the throttles and reverse thrust?

I have had luck with the Throttles and reverse thrust. Because I have a Joystick and a yoke, I had the Joystick throttle setup on the throttle and the yoke throttle set on the Propeller axis for the Beech Baron 58 ect.

Matt, you saved me from coming up with an evil one of my own...I was thinking along the same lines, but yours is better than what I had in mind. It really fits the 727's historic uses, before the days of RJs and hub-and-spoke routing.

I'm not sure I want to see what your DC-8 checkride is like...it's probably something like landing a fully-loaded DC-8-61 on an aircraft carrier and taking off again...

Until I can pass the EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! checkride, I will problobly change to the MD-80 Program, because I fly for Virtual Midwest Airlines, and they don't fly 737s. Thet only fly T-Tailed Aircraft. How would I change programs from 737 to the MD-88. That is so I can fly the MD-80 around on Midwest/Delta routes.

If you have passed the MD-88 First Officer exam, you've got the rating to fly MD-88s. If you want to switch to the program, contact the MD-88 Chief Pilot and he can switch you, but you still can fly Mad Dogs without actually switching to the program.

And hopefully the email I sent you can help you with the checkride a little. It's not easy.

LOL honestly I don't have a pre-made DC-8 ride right now, no one seems to want to fly the grand old bird. The only person I've had to enter the program and require a ride is a good friend who happens to hold real world SE/ME Commercial ratings. When we fly real planes together we love to one-up each other, so I was way meaner to him than I would be to anyone else.
