Welcome aboard! It's very simple, really. All you've got to do is select a route you would like to fly (a majority of pilots here use Delta's electronic timetable from delta.com) and then away you go. (Provided you're rated in that particular airframe.) It's not a requirement to fly online, but if you are unsure of how to go about this and would like to learn, please email me personally at Nikki-3@comcast.net and I'd be more than happy to spell it all out for ya.
To get started, you'll need a Delta jet! There are a plethora of jets available in FS2002 format located in our Fleet Library, which is accesible via your Pilot Centre. You may also prefer to browse the web and see what else is available to choose from. I prefer http://www.flightsim.com (which requires a simple registration, but is free) and also http://www.avsim.com which does not require a registration. In my own opinion, flightsim.com offers a greater range of aircraft and panels. However, both sites offer great quality.
Once you've landed and secured your aircraft, you'll want to file your paperwork. To do this, all you need to do is log in here at DVA, go into your Pilot Centre and select PiREPs, then click the button that says File PiREP. Enter the appropriate information and submit the report. A staff member goes through these on a regular basis and approves/disapproves the reports as necessary. Once your report is approved, your profile will be updated to reflect your latest flight count, hours and an entry will be added to your log book.
A lot of pilots here use a wide range of add-ons to flight sim. I encourage you to visit the Water Cooler on a regular basis and read some the posts. You will hear our pilots' reviews on products that you may be interested in trying out. Fortunately, a lot of really good add-ons are 100% free! Check out the sites I mentioned above.
