I was getting ready to take the MD88 captain test when I looked at the bottom of the Pilot Center page. In the section "Promotion to Captain, I'm listed as having completed 2 of the 10 MD88 flights required. However, my logbook lists 8 flights completed and approved in the MD88. I'm not sure if there is an error or if for some reason 6 of my flights don't count.

The 10 Flight Leg requirement has a little bit of a nuance. You only start accumulating the 10 flight legs towards Captain's rank once you enter the program. Flights flown in the MD-88 before you joined the program as a First Officer unfortunately do not count.

To give you a bit of a parallel, one needs to reside in the United States for five years as a Permanent Resident before one can apply for citizenship. I've lived here legally for over six years, but my five year clock only just started. This is an encouragement for people to get moving up the equipment stages.

Cheers!

The citizenship wait is reduced to 3 years if you marry a US citizen. Unfortunately, I was unable to convince an American to marry me in the three months I lived here along before my marriage. smile

Cheers!
