Everywhere I have looked, it says that if I am qualified as a first officer in the MD-88 program, I am allowed to fly the B727. However, the B727 is not listed as a plane I am qualified to fly in my Pilot Center. I took the B727 first officer test yesterday, and received an 86%. Is this an error on DVA's side or am I really not qualified to fly the 727?

Thank you!

I believe you have to attain captain's status in a stage 2 program before you can be rated in the '27.

Bob, that's correct. In order to get the additional rating in a Stage Three aircraft, according to the Pilot Promotions Manual, you have to already be a Captain in a Stage Two program like the Mad Dog.

Your test for the 727 counts, and when you make Captain in the MD-88, you'll get the 727 rating added on automatically because you passed the test.

Good deal! Now for question number two, it shows I have 2 of 10 flights completed to be able to attain captain status. However, I have four approved PIREPs and one pending.

Looks like I joined the right VA, you guys really have your stuff together, I have to commend you all!

You have to have 10 flights in the '88 before being promoted to captain. If you've flown any flights in the '88 before becoming a first officer, then the previous flights won't count toward promotion.

Yup, James is right. In order for a flight to count against your 10 needed for promotion, you have to already be a First Officer in that program before you submit the PIREP.
