Why doesn't delta have a Boeing 747-400 rating? That is my favorite plane, and will they ever add one?

If you're talking about the real Delta I can't answer your question. This VA, however, does have the rating. You'll need to take the DC-8 F/O test, and pass it, for your 747 ratings. You can't take the DC-8 test until you're a Stage 3 Captain, however. So, you'll have to wait a while.

We reflect what Delta Air Lines has operated. Delta has never operated the 744 - and probably never will. Accordingly, we have no 747 program. The closes you're going to get is the 747-100, because Delta operated a trio of those aircraft in the 1970s, and we have historic aircraft afficionados that love that old bird.

Cheers!

I thought it was the MD-11 rating to get the 747 rating?

You might be right, George, but I could've sworn I got my 747 ratings when I passed the DC-8 F/O test.

Hi George,

I think the rating for the triple seven includes the 744 too.

Any Stage 4 rating will bring with it the 747 rating, if I remember correctly.

Wayne is correct any stage four rating will get the 747-100, -200, -300, and -400 ratings.

I've noticed that not many domestic US airlines operate 744's. The only ones I know of are Northwest and United. And both those airline only operate the 744's on long 10 to 15 hour international flights.

Well, I took the 777FO written and passed, received the B777, A330 & A340 rating, but not the B744 rating. Is there anything else I need to do to acquire that?
