Just so I don't mess up....are we authorized to log flights on an MD-80 that is a version other than the 88? With the arrival of the Flight 1 "Super MD-80", I was curious if flights can be logged with it.

Those of us with the 777-200LR are using it to log flights.

I guess if they are similar enough you can such as what Matt said with the 200ER and the 200LR. The MD-88 and 80 shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

The MD-80 series aircraft are the same plane. The differents bewteen the 80/82 and 88 are Cockpits. 88's have glass cockpit, if you want to call it glass wink That was the main difference when they were made, however some companies have updated the old cockpits with glass. The MD-83 just holds more fuel (2 extra belly tanks), and the 87 (similar to DC-9-50) is a short version of the MD80.

MD80/82 Cockpit: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/902824/M/
MD88 Cockpit: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/943365/M/

MD80/82/83/88: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/969087/M/
MD87 (notice how much shorter it is):http://www.airliners.net/open.file/969087/M/

Hope this helps smile
