I was reading the promotion manual and got a little confused. Is it possible to be in a current aircraft program and a historic aircraft program at the same time? Or is it only one kind of program at a time?

You're in one program at a time. The "historic" programs are treated exactly the same as any other here at DVA. Now, you can of course hold type ratings in many different aircraft--so you can be a B757 First Officer and take the 727 F/O exam and get the rating to fly the 727, for example.
