I've re-read the Pilot's Manual and looked around the website for an answer to this but have been unsuccessful so far.
In the Pilot's Center, towards the bottom where it tells you your promotion status and requirements, it says that I have 5 approved flight legs towards the 10 flights nessesary for promotion to Captain. Yet in my logbookI have over 10 approved entries.
What am I missing here?

You need 10 flights in the 738 to be eligible for promotion to Captain. Your other flights are in the CRJ.

Not necessarily the 737. You can also have flights in the A319/320/321, etc.. They have to be in the aircraft of the same stage that were conferred on you when you got the ratings for the 737.

Well, now I am confused. The CRJ is listed in the same group I'm rated for along with the 737.

Thomas, the CRJ is a stage one aircraft while the 737 is a stage two aircraft.

Thomas, you can find what you seek in the promotion manual. It's got lots of good information in it.
