Well, I finally found out what that faint burning smell in the server room was. 
One of the power supplies on the backup server has a dead cooling fan, and things were getting a little toasty inside that box. I have picked up a replacement power supply and the deltava.org mail server will therefore be down for around 30 minutes later on this evening.
On the good side, the main server now has a full 512MB of RAM, which may speed things up a touch. I am looking at upgrading the backup server from 128MB to 256MB, which should speed up operations a bit. The main goal, however, is to get my wife's web sites off of our server and onto the backup server. This RAM upgrade is the first step towards that goal.
