We recently added 55 DC-3 and 43 Electra-L10B historic flights to the DVA schedule database. The flights were taken from Delta Air Lines' schedules and flight reports from Feb. 1 1935 - Dec. 1, 1945.

In the early days, DL flew postal routes between ATL and FTW with as many as 8 legs with 6 - 7 min. stopovers. Even Southwest Airlines cannot turn an aircraft around in that time. But in all fairness when you don't have PAX to deal with you can move air mail bags efficiently.

The airport database was updated to include airfields used in the time period. You will now find Fort Worth Meacham Field KFTW, Tyler, TX Pounds Field KTYR, Jackson, MS Hawkins Field KHKS.

In the mid- '40's they started similar routes from MIA to Chicago with stops in Jacksonville, Brunswich, Savanah, Augusta, Atlanta, Spartanburg, Greenville Ashefille, Knoxville, Lesington Cincinnati and Midway.

Enjoy exploring some of the discontinued routes, airports and aircraft.

Thanks go to Andrew Dalrymple and Matt Creed for their research and sharing copies of old schedules.

Thanks Terry. I lined up the DC-3 legs from Miami to Chicago. I just need to find a small aircraft I'm already rated in and fly them. I guess the DC-6/3 rating is my next stop eventually. Some of those airports are a bit too big for heavies.
