I was at Manchester airport yesterday - EGCC - touched-lucky, because as well as gazing longingly at Concorde G-BOAC, I was there when a ukerainian Ant 225 came in. Now, THAT is one bbbb-iiiiii-gggg aircraft! taxied right past my viewing position... very slowly...at one point it had to stop to let a departing 747 400F cross the taxi way - it dwarfed it! A friend took a load of pics, I'll post one when he sends it me!

You're lucky, Drew. There's only that one An-225 in existence, though Antonov does have a second 225 that they're seriously considering finishing and placing into operation.
Maximum takeoff weight 1,410,000 pounds. Wow. I always have wondered how the wings are constructed on that plane, as they have so much anhedral "droop" when the plane's at rest, for the life of me I can't figure out how they don't overstress the roots.

Yes I am known as Drew, not Moose, or at least, not to my face! I didn't realise it was the only one... it really was a spectacular sight, like seeing an apartment block on the taxi way! There seen to be two humps above the wing roots, I thought they were something to do with the shuttle it was designed to carry, but maybe they are some kind of cantilever system.. And talk about taxi slowly!!! thing musta had 40 wheels on the main gear... and the Follow me truck had to keep stopping to wait for it, then they had to move half a dozen A320/B757 type a/c off the ramp to make room for it! Fantastic! Hope the pics come out OK. There were a lot of journos there so it will probably appear in the press.
