I just passed my CRJ captains exam, and I have the possibility of either going into the MD-88 or 737 equipment programs. I am leaning toward the MD-88, and I just want to know what other planes I will be rated for if I fly the 737 or if I choose the MD-88. Also, which is better if I want to mainly fly shorter routes.

Thank you! cool

As for the best one for shorter routes... is the best one it suits you but I say "none of them".... the best fleet for shorter routes is this one:

LOL Charly. I like them. I have been in one. I also got the chace to drive the Independence "Jet" trucks for a week here in Savannah, and a week in Washington. I tell you, nothing like having the people photographing the White House turn around and start taking pictures of me and the Jet Truck at the Red light. LOL.

The MD-88 gets you the MD-90, ERJ-170, and the DC-9's...all good for the shorter routes.

The 737 is more versitle than the MD-88. You can fly the short 30 minutes to an hour flights, or if you felt like it you could fly on a 5 hour flight the northeast to California. I went into the 737 program, but have flown the MD's many times.

A318, A319, A320, A321, B737-200, B737-300, B737-400, B737-500, B737-700, B737-800, B737-900, ERJ-170 come with the 737

I used to fly alot of different aircraft, but I have been sticking to my program plane the 757 lately. One thing about DVA is that if you see a flight leg you would like to fly, fly it. As long as the aircraft can handle the specific route, obvisously you wouldnt fly the CRJ from ATL to EDDF. I often fly routes for different aircraft but use the 757 as long as I know that my plane can handle the route safely. As for those two airbodies I prefer the 737.. I am a big fan of the PMDG 737!!!
