Hey all,
I am new to DVA, and I was just checking out the PIREP form to see what data I need to keep track of to report my first flight. I notice that there is no radio button for X-Plane. Also are flight flown online with networks other than IVAO or VATSIM not considered online flights? There seems to be no way of inputting this on the PIREP either. If anyone in the development staff is interested in making things a bit more compatable with X-Plane, I would be glad to provide any help I can.

My guess is that ACARS doesn't support X-plane. That and the majority of people us MSFS. That doesn't mean x-plane sucks or anything, just more people use MSFS rather than x-plane. Majority rules.

Compatibility between platforms is also a headache. This is why you don't see developers rushing to make thier software compatible with both Macs & PC's. Again, majority rules here too.

FS9 is cheap these days, pick up a copy! biggrin biggrin

Michael,
I own a copy of FS9, but it runs incredibly unstable on my computer for some reason. If I want to run it as it comes out of the box it is ok, but the second I start installing aircraft or addons to fly online it crashes on a regular basis. I also find that MSFS does a realy bad job of a lot of things in their flight modeling. X-Plane is not as pretty as FS, but it's flight modeling is top notch and I like the realism. Had FS been stable, I would have kept it around, but I don't care for my sim dumping after 2 and a half hours of a 3 hour flight half the time I also enjoy the ability to fly in linux which I run on my main machine the majority of the time.

I have no problems manualy pireping my flights. If the delta staff are interested in making a compatable ACARS system I would be glad to help. There is already an ACARS system out there for X-Plane, and I bet it would not be to hard to make it compatable with Delta's servers. It would be nice however to be able to file a pirep and select the proper sim smile

The other side of the argument is that if more VA's would make themselves compatable with X-Plane, they would attract more X-Plane pilots. There are a couple X-Plane VA's out there, and the pilots that fly for them are all very deticated to realistic airline flight operations. Not a bad group of people to look for joining DVA.

Your right.....from what I heard X-plane has superior flight physics. If it looked as good as MSFS, I'd drop MSFS in a heatbeat. Unfortunatley, x-plane drivers compose a small minority of the overall FS community, therefore the demand is quite low compared with MSFS. Nonetheless, perhaps you could post an 'enhancement' feature in the issue tracker. If nothing else, maybe Luke (DVA's website ADMIN) could allow for x-plane to be displayed among FS2004, FS2002, etc., when filing for PIREPs. I'm sure DVA would welcome x-planers.
