Yesterday I flew the MD-88 from KBOS to KLGA. The schedule calls for about 1 hr 5 mins to complete the flight. I completed it in .7 hrs according to ACARS. There was no ATC online, so my flightplan just went from VOR to VOR for the route. Is the fact that I completed it more quickly the reason for this line in my PIREP? The PIREP appears to have been accepted as a legitimate flight (which it was). Just wondering why it says this.

I've had that happen on a couple flights. I think it says that if the flight time is too short or too long compared to the scheduled time. for example, if you complete a 12 hour flight in 15 hours, it will most likely say that.

Don't think it means anything major though.

as long as it is approved - doesn't matter. I believe the times are based on historic VA data and real world planned flight times. It doesn't tkae into account strong head or tailwinds - if you did it on ACARS - your info is valid and there shouldn't be any reason that wouldn't be validated

Ok, cool.. Was just the first time I'd seen that so I didn't know if it would have an effect on the PIREP. Thanks!

The system calculates the average time to fly between two airports based on the flight schedule. If your logged time is under 75% or over 115% of this average plus half an hour, the warning will be set. It merely points out to the reviewer that they will want to double-check the flight, but it rarely results in a denial.

Cheers!
