I have recently been promoted to Capt. in the MD-88 program. I then took the First Officer exam for the 757 and passed. My question is, can I submit PIREPS when I fly the 757, or do I have to transfer to that program to be qualified to submit the PIREP? My list of aircraft that I am qualified for doesn't list the 757 even though I passed the FO test. Maybe an oversight or it hasn't been updated? Finally, if I do transfer, do I retain my Capt. status in the MD-88? I know some of this is in the manuals, but it's a little foggy and I'm looking for clarification. Thanks.

You have to take the 757 checkride to be able to submit a PIREP. You have to request aditional ratings in 757, then they will send you an email with info on your checkride.

You have to pass the checkride in order to either move to the 757 program or gain the additional rating. Until you file an Equipment Transfer Request asking for the additional rating, get assigned the checkride, fly it, and pass it, you can't PIREP flights in the 757.

As an MD-88 Captain, you can get an additional rating in the 757 and stay a Captain in the MD-88 program, or you can transfer up to the 757 program. Whenever you transfer into a program, you're a First Officer. After 10 flight legs in that plane (post-transfer) and passing the Captain's exam, you get your Captain's rank again.

The Promotions Manual in the Document Library explains the entire process.
