What is the difference between a DAL callsign and a DVA callsign (i.e. why do some have DAL and some pilots DVA). I was always a tad curious about this.

Regards,
Scott

Tomas, use what you want. Our policy is that we have no policy concerning this, except group flights. For group flights use your DVA ID. I use the real flight number in my flights except for group flights.

In real life the DAL shows up on the ATC screen and they know it's a Delta flight.... that's why I always use DAL

Short of something patently illegal Vatsim (don't know about IVAO) will allow anyone to use any callsign online. There are those people who fly online but are not members of any VA. So don't get upset or say (or do) anything online if you see someone using a DAL callsign and are not a DVA pilot. That pilot has as much right to use the DAL callsign as we do. Just thought I would forewarn you in case you do see it...

I have always used DVA to differentiate the fact that I am am a member of DVA, since anyone can use a DAL calsign, regardless of VA membership.

If I may add I appreciate when people use the real flight numbers BUT i prefer it if you use your callsign. I like to know who it is and I usually will say, 'hi.'

Gosh, am I the only one who uses the flight's actual callsign rather than my pilot number?!? smile Then again, I also use the actual route flown that day and actual gates too... Man, I'm making it hard on myself! lol
