Congrats are in order for Capt Michael Brown DVA 3196 as he completed his Commercial Checkride tonight. With clear VFR weather in Central Florida, Capt Brown followed the shuttle today with a excellent commercial checkride. He was heard mumbling in the intercom "So easy a cave man can do it", as he performed the commercial maneuvers, slow flight, soft and short field landings up to commercial standards. Looking forward to seeing him in the new IFR course soon. biggrin

Congrats! What does the virtual Commercial check ride involve? My RW ride was Chandelles, On-pylon eights, lazy eights in the 172 in addition to navigation etc. In short all the private stuff plus commercial new moves. Do you have to demonstrate these? If so, I am curious about what pivotal altitude you use in the check airplane.

Thanks!

The "grass intersection departure from 36L" is part of the new mulch 1 departure, grass on fire transition that Michael demonstrated with grace and a steady hand as part of his commercial checkride. The Virtual Comm Checkride does not include lazy eights, Chandelles, or On-pylon eights, but has other RW comm requirements to pass the course. In flight sim it is difficult to have the instructor fly outside the airplane to watch the student fly these maneuvers, but we do have some neat stuff in the course.... smile
