Hi there, my name is Bernardo Gonçalves De Carvalho, I'm from Portugal, and I've just started flying with DVA completing my 1st flight (ATL-BOS). I am a VATSIM user since 17/08/2006 (PID971262), completing 1655h as a Pilot, and 741h as an ATC.

My VA history goes by UPSvac, who was my 1st virtual airline experience, where i filed around 600h flying the LVLD B763ER.

I then moved to a local VA from my country that goes by the name of Grupo SATA Virtual (http://www.satavirtual.org/), where i flew 639h still counting, becoming the FLEET MANAGER for the A310 (SSW A310). This company as been around since 1997 and introduced the FS ACARS to the virtual comunity.

In real life I'm an F/A for euroAtlantic Airways, rated in B767/757 and L-1011. And i am currently undertaking a degree in Aeronautical Sciences, planning to start my ATPL in January.

Enough said, just wanted to introduce myself to the forum!

My intital rating at DVA was B752 program (STAGE 3), and until now i had never flown B752 in VATSIM, so i started to investigate what kind of B752 would be good for starters, i opted for LVLD/POSKY 757 merge. Don't know if the aricraft is ok, but the flight went well, the 1st thing i noticed was the imense power the B752 produced, just like in real life, i liked it!!!! One thing that kept bugging me was a constant fuel inbalance betwen the Left and Right Tanks, i had to keep X-FEED for a correct fuel balance. If anyone as any idea about how this could have happened...

Would like to congrat DVA for the fine work they did producing this ACARS system, just wonderful!

As for the LVLD767ER, i normally use performance charts and data cards, for takeoff (DE RATE determination, VREF...). Would like to know if these documents are also available for the B752 within DVA.

I've just enroled in the Private Pilot Course, and I'm still getting the hang of DVA Operations...but I like very much to fly in the U.S.

Hope to see you guys up in the virtual skies...

Regards,
Bernardo Carvalho

Welcome aboard, Bernardo! Glad to hear that you are in the 757 program as well. I have only used the fleet installer 757 so far so I am no help with the payware planes, but others here with vast knowledge will be glad to help I am sure.

And related to the Fuel Inbalance issue...does any one have any idea of what it could have been? It's a bit annoying i had to keep switching the x-feed valves and shutting down the right fuel pumps, so that fuel from the left side could be burned and merged with the balance in the right side!

I don't know if it was because i didn't use that option to load fuel from DVA ACARS, i just did the calculations and loaded it by myself...

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Bernardo Carvalho

It has something to do with the frankenstein of the LDS and the POSKY model. You are using a 767 air file in a 757. I do not know if there is a workaround for it or not but I have heard of that problem as well as runaway trim amongst others from guys who have tried it.

I used the old PIC/Posky merge before on the old 767PIC but have never morphed the LDS into a 757 skin. Hopefully Level-D will get the 757 out soon so we can enjoy a high quality 757 albeit in FSX only the way it looks.

Hello and welcome aboard Bernardo! I'm sure you will find us as one of the best VA's out there. You can thank Luke for the wonderful ACARS system that makes us so distinguished from other VA's.

By dispatch-what exactly do you mean? I know you can input the route of flight and alternate in the ACARS system. You can also get the weather with the system as well.

Once again welcome to the family, and don't hesitate to ask questions or shoot some emails!

Something like this -> http://fspbernardocarvalho.home.sapo.pt/CLX%20773_08MAR07_KSFO%20TO%20ELLX_042801.pdf

Thats a dispatch for a CARGOLUX flight betwen KSFO and ELLX

Of course it has to be much simpler...but thats a dispatch...and you read it and analyse it even before, opening FS or ACARS or even before pre-filing a flightplan in VATSIM, at leat thats what i normally do!!!

Well, we're not required to do any dispatches or pre-flight procedures like this, but it is optional. For example, some pilots may take flying really seriously and and write down all the stats, while others might consider it more of a game.

So it's pretty much up to you, but you are not obligated to to it. As long as you can fly safely sart to finish.

Yes understood...Mark i get your point of view!

But maybe what DVA could is like gather all the pertaining links related to flight dispatch...and who wnats to brief their flights goes there!!!

If you go to NOAA you have there a section that says International Flight Folder Documentation -> http://aviationweather.gov/iffdp/

For me thats like everything you need to conduct your flight in terms of meterology safety...

Other items should be covered, like Route, Alternate, Weights breakdown, etc...

I don't know, this is just my opinion...

Bernardo Carvalho
