Nicholas,

Don't worry so much about promotions, enjoy yourself. Someone will always be aware of what you are doing and recognize it. You have a Chief Pilot and Asst Chief Pilot who pay attention to what you are doing. Learn and practice and all will come to you. When you get a chance, read the promotion manual in the document library.

Take care, Clarke smile

In shot, the answer is in the promotions manual.

To aswer your question directly, once you have reached 10 legs, you can go to the testing center and the Captain's exam will be available. Take it, pass, and now your a captain.

Is there an ACARS/Online thing, or just a written test?

Once you achieve 10 flights, you can take the captain's exam in the testing center-located in the pilot center. If you pass, then you will have to wait for just a few days until a staff member apporves the transfer.

It is covered in the Promotions Manual:

I hope you get to where you want to be!

Mark covered it. Once you get your 10 flights in, you take and pass the written Captain's exam, and then a member of that program's staff will promote you. The test is graded automatically, but the promotion requires manual intervention, so please be patient. And, remember that the 10 flights must be in your program's aircraft--in your case, 10 MD-88 flights, starting when you joined the program.
