Hey there everyone! I generally fly on FS2004 because I can use my FS Passengers (very fun if you do not have it). The other day about 30 seconds after take-off I had an engine failure which I am pretty sure was generated by the FS Passengers. I was able to make a 180 and land the plan without a problem, quite a feat with realism at full I must say. ;-) I just restarted the flight and had no problem. Do I need to report these problems for added realism or does anyone really care?

I'm guessing your not flying online? If so, yes you would report it.

Also, if you were using ACARS at the time "lets say you landed, got the problem sorted out and took of to your destination as planned" you would want to leave a little comment on why you retured to the airport.

Hope i'm on the right track and were actually on the same page! smile

If you are flying online, you can report the emergency to the controller if there is one online. HOWEVER, the controller is NOT obligated to accept your emergency. If he is busy, he may tell you to disconnect.

In terms of offline comments with ACARS, you can put anything in there (within reason of course). If you have an inflight emergency and end up diverting to another airport, you definitely should mention what happened and why you diverted, or your PIREP may be held/rejected.

I've had to divert due to a fuel emergency after a 15 hour flight. I got within 400 miles of the airport and didn't have enough to reach the airport. I was flying a KA 744 from ATL-ICN and had to make a landing in Japan. I put it in the comments and the flight got accepted. If you're on VATSIM, you have to request to declare an emergency and the ATC has the right to refuse to give you help.
