I need some suggestions how to tell or see if the pilot heat is on and also what else I can do to warm these temps up?

Hi Kevin - It's actually pitot heat and I believe it's located in the overhead panel on the fleet Mad Dog. Based on the fact that your airspeed indicator is working, you probably have pitot heat on, which ensures that the pitot tube (part of the system that measures airspeed) does not freeze shut. Your TAT temperature is meant to show the outside air temperature and you can not warm it up using equipment on the aircraft. The only temperture gauge you can affect with the aircraft's equipment is the fuel temp, but I don't believe the fleet panel features fuel heat equipment.

if you go to the overhead panel view for the Fleet MD88 there is on the botton left side, a row of anti-ice switches in order:
AIRFOIL / WINDSHIELD / ENGINE / PITOT
