The entire flight academy PPL is based on the EMB-120. By the time the course is completed, the pilot has probably mastered that aircraft more then most, plus spent a huge amount of time practicing on it. Also, it includes mandatory VATSIM and a live checkride with the CFI. Why shouldn't the pilot automatically receive the EMB-120 captain and equipment rating after this comprehensive course is complete?

Well, everyone gets the EMB-120 rating by default - it's the entry level bird.
The PPL course is a Flight Academy based. You could technically complete the course without having flown 10 flight legs. Regardless, most that go through the PPL course find the EMB-120 Captain's exam to be do-able based upon their training.

Also, I forgot to add - many pilots in the PPL course may not be in the EMB-120 program...

I know the 10 legs are required, but maybe should be waived. I just feel consideration should be given toward the Captain's rating for all the flight time required for the PPL. Not meant as a criticism, just a thought. Maybe it was just me that spent so much time on the EMB-120. BTW, it has become my aircraft of choice right now. Great to fly.
When will the new EMB be out?

To be a captain, you must pass the captains exam regardless of other training, plain english to me.

Thanks George. I'm looking forward to the new EMB-120 It's about the only thing I fly right now.
Robby, I understand English very well. The question was to stir up a conversation, not create a war. It wasn't meant to be a personal thing for me. Just wanted feedback.
